Irrigation Modernization Programme starts
By Order No. 29 of 5 March 2018 the Ministry has started the Irrigation Modernization Programme. It pays for the concrete lining of main canals, laser levelling of fields and drip irrigation of orchards, first of all in the Talas valley.
Up to a third of the water taken into unlined canals is lost before it reaches the fields. The first lots on the Great Talas Canal and the Western Main Canal will be put out to tender this spring.
